Living in small spaces is nothing new for New Yorkers, but it wasn't until recently that micro-apartments of 400 square feet or less started to catch on. The mindset shift was largely inspired by Mayor Bloomberg and New York City's adAPT NYC design competition, which challenges architects to design functional and desirable homes that are just 275-300 square feet.
